Jules achieves “Master Craftsman” title

This last year, as many of my clients will be aware,  I have been working on a collection of images to present to The Guild Of Photographers for assessment for my Craftsman Qualification.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that finally last week my completed panel of images were judged by the Guilds team of International judges and I was actually awarded the “Master Craftsman” Qualification. This award means so much to me for many reasons but possibly the most important reason is that I know I am giving a truly Professional Quality Service and Product to my clients and Master Craftsman is a title I intend to live up to for the rest of my photographic career.

Throughout my photographic Journey I have participated In many training days with various Photographers in particular Damien Lovegrove  who I found extremely helpful and inspiring and I have always come away with new techniques that I have been able to apply to my own work. I think its very important to develop your own style and take inspiration from others to improve your own work and training is invaluable.

Learning to see images as a collection that represents your personal style is not always easy and my Guild Mentor Julie Oswin, a wonderfully talented acclaimed photographer, has played a huge role in helping me put these images together, and I am truly indebted to her for guiding me and encouraging me. She is a wonderful person and a fantastic trainer within the business of photography.

I would like to thank all of my clients, even if your imagesare not in this panel, you have all had an input and been extremely inspirational to me.

and finally thank you to The Guild for being such a nurturing organisation I love being a member of such a warm and friendly group of Photographers from all walks of life

Maternity with Jules

Hello all you gorgeous expectant mummy’s!  your Pregnancy is such a magical time….it may seem like forever but really its over before you know it…how I wish I had beautiful images of my bump to look back on.

Capturing tasteful & timeless maternity images is my passion … I had the pleasure of photographing Jenna yesterday, I have to say she has the most beautiful bump at just 26 weeks I usually recommend anywhere from 28 -32 weeks to capture your beautiful bump but it really depends on each individual and how your bump is progressing. Jules is awarded Photographers Bar in 3 Categories with The Guild

Local photographer achieves national acclaim!

Local photographer Julie Moult has been granted membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’ and was the only person in the UK to do so in 3 different photographic areas.

Membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’ is a unique distinction awarded to those photographers who have successfully had images assessed by the Guild of Photographers over the course of a year and have attained a score that evidences an exceptional level of professional skill and consistency throughout that a full year.

The Guild of Photographers is a highly respected association for all photographers and it’s competition attracts up to 1000 images for judging by an an expert Panel of Judges each month. Points are given to entries and these are then totaled at the end of the year. Those who reach the required threshold are then awarded membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’.

That membership of the ‘Photographers Bar’ is a distinction that is very difficult to achieve – in fact less than 100 photographers have achieved it in the 3 years since its inception, during which time over 30,000 images will have been entered for assessment by photographers across the UK and from overseas.

Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said “I am delighted for Julie as this is a great achievement! Submitting and having images assessed every month for a year and reaching the required standards to become a member of the Photographers Bar is very very demanding. It illustrates her commitment, skill and consistency. She should be very proud of what she has achieved!”

On hearing the news Julie who runs Little Creases leicester Newborn Photography & Jules Photography said …. I am absolutely thrilled to receive these awards…I am always working to improve my skills and produce beautiful images for my clients. Becoming a member of The Guild has enabled me to enter images each month for assessment which provides me with the right environment to grow and keep on track of my progress.

10 images Nominated for National Awards with the Guild Of Photographers

The New Year brought with it 4 Magical emails from the Guild of Photographers I cannot express how honoured I am to have my images nominated for the National Annual Awards again this year and to be considered one amongst some of THE best photographers in the Country!

Leicester Newborn, Baby, Family & Pet Photographer Jules of Jules Photography & Little Creases achieves National Acclaim!
Jules, a photographer based in Kirkby Mallory, Nr Hinckley Leicester has reached the Final of the fiercely contested Guild of Photographers Image of the Year Competition.

 The Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers which has members from overseas as well. Each year it runs an on-line monthly photographic competition with awards being given each month to the very best of the entries.

During the course of 2015, the competition attracted nearly 10,000 entries in 4 categories, and this week the Guild’s Judges have selected just 10 images in the various genres from the very best of the monthly entries, to go forward to the annual Final. Jules‘s has had 10 images Nominated within the 4 Categories of Pet Portraits, Babies & Toddler, Newborn and Maternity

 & children.

Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity amongst photographers. Our monthly competition certainly does that, for the standard of the entries we see each month is quite staggering. To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best 10 in a category for the end of year Final is a quite remarkable achievement, and shows just how talented a photographer Jules is.

”

Jules said “I live for my photography and put a lot of effort into developing my skills. One way I do that is to enter the Guild’s competition. It drives forward photography standards month after month so it helps me push myself. The images I see getting awards each month are inspirational, so knowing just how high those standards are, to have my images selected within the 10 to go through to the Final from the whole year’s entries is really really exciting. I couldn’t believe it when I found out.”

Jules’s image along with the others will now be printed ready for the Competition Final later in January, and the overall winner will be announced at a lavish Awards night in a magnificent Jacobean mansion in Cheshire on 6th February.

Beautiful Bump!

Beautiful Marina and partner Pavels came to my Leicester Studio for a bump/maternity photography session last week.

we had such a great shoot, Maternity sessions are always a thrill to do…making an expectant mum feel and look beautiful just weeks before her precious baby is due is always an honour.

Choosing the right Newborn/Baby Photographer for you – Baby photographer Leicester

You’ve done the pregnancy test…you’ve had your first scan …yay!!!! your expecting a baby…congratulations!!! your life is now on a roller coaster ride with lots of milestones for you to celebrate along the way. You know you want to capture your beautiful newborn baby when he/she arrives and maybe have some family photos too, but how do you choose the right photographer? There are so many of us! Try not to leave it until baby is here…many newborn photographers are booked months in advance so try and think about it as early on in your pregnancy as possible.  My advice to anyone looking for a professional photographer is to firstly look at the images on their website and ask yourself “Are these the type of photographs you want of your baby?”  ” can you see them on the wall in your home?” If the answer is yes great! Now its a good idea to check they are a professional photographer, after all…it is professional photographs you want right?… a professional photographer will have insurance, will be trained in photography, maybe hold a qualification, they will be a member of a professional photographers association and they will have baby safety standards in place. Remember you will be passing your brand new daughter or son over to this person, they will be responsible for his/her safety…babies NEVER balance on boxes, or sit with hands under chins unsupported for the sake of a photograph…A professional photographer will take 2 or 3 images of a scene with baby supported by mum or dad the whole time and then they will put these images together in post production, even tiny babies can startle and fall of chairs, boxes etc, babies safety has to be THE most important question for you to raise when looking for a photographer to capture you newborn.

A professional photographer will be more than happy to discuss any of the above with you and you can then rest assured you will have beautiful photographs of your precious newborn baby to cherish forever, you only get one chance at capturing these moments….they grow up way too fast!!
