10 images Nominated for National Awards with the Guild Of Photographers

The New Year brought with it 4 Magical emails from the Guild of Photographers I cannot express how honoured I am to have my images nominated for the National Annual Awards again this year and to be considered one amongst some of THE best photographers in the Country!

PRESS RELEASE

Leicester Newborn, Baby, Family & Pet Photographer Jules of Jules Photography & Little Creases achieves National Acclaim!
Jules, a photographer based in Kirkby Mallory, Nr Hinckley Leicester has reached the Final of the fiercely contested Guild of Photographers Image of the Year Competition.

The Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers which has members from overseas as well. Each year it runs an on-line monthly photographic competition with awards being given each month to the very best of the entries.

During the course of 2015, the competition attracted nearly 10,000 entries in 4 categories, and this week the Guild’s Judges have selected just 10 images in the various genres from the very best of the monthly entries, to go forward to the annual Final. Jules‘s has had 10 images Nominated within the 4 Categories of Pet Portraits, Babies & Toddler, Newborn and Maternity

 & children.

Guild Director Lesley Thirsk said “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity amongst photographers. Our monthly competition certainly does that, for the standard of the entries we see each month is quite staggering. To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best 10 in a category for the end of year Final is a quite remarkable achievement, and shows just how talented a photographer Jules is.

”

Jules said “I live for my photography and put a lot of effort into developing my skills. One way I do that is to enter the Guild’s competition. It drives forward photography standards month after month so it helps me push myself. The images I see getting awards each month are inspirational, so knowing just how high those standards are, to have my images selected within the 10 to go through to the Final from the whole year’s entries is really really exciting. I couldn’t believe it when I found out.”

Jules’s image along with the others will now be printed ready for the Competition Final later in January, and the overall winner will be announced at a lavish Awards night in a magnificent Jacobean mansion in Cheshire on 6th February.

Beautiful Baby Willow

a

So many blog posts to do to catch up this month!

Its been a crazy two months here at Little Creases, Leicester Newborn & Baby Photography Studio …I have met so many beautiful new babies and I have finally caught up with editing and viewings I am making a start with this gorgeous family.

Vicky is a busy mum and full time commercial model but we managed to fit Willow in for her Newborn session and although Layton her Big Brother wasn’t feeling well..we grabbed a little snap of them together…bless him he spent most of the session flat out on the sofa.

Willow was oblivious to it all and slept the majority of the time!

Frequently Asked Questions about your Newborn Session

I have put together a few frequently asked questions and answers to help mums and dads understand how a Newborn Photography Session works and what is involved. Other photographers may do things differently so always check with them before booking .

When do I book?

You can book your session as early as your 20 week scan…once you have had the scan I can allocate a couple of weeks for you around your due date and then as soon as baby has arrived you can call me to arrange a day and time and we can chat about everything. This is advisable as I can get very busy and allocating your due date means you will always have your slot reserved. You can call or email me to book your session I take a £25 deposit at the time of booking and this is deducted from your package cost.

When is the best time to have my session?

To get the very best from your newborn session your baby needs to be between 5 and 14 days old and preferably no later than 3 weeks. This is due to the fact that they are still super sleepy and still curled so we are able to position baby in all the sweet poses you have seen on my website.

What happens at my session?

My Newborn sessions start as near to 10am as you can make it as babies tend to suffer less from colic earlier on on the day…I work in a cosy room at Miracle In Progress 3d/4d Scanning Clinic in Shepshed where you can sit and relax while your session takes place. Your session usually takes between 2 – 4hrs as a lot of time is taken with feeding changing and settling baby and changes of backdrops props and etc…there is no rush and we can take our time. We will have discussed any preferences you may have when we arranged the day and time for your session i.e what sort of shots you would like, family shots, colours etc.

Do you take Partner & Sibling images?

I love taking Mummy and Daddy shots during my newborn sessions, and my style is relaxed and informal so even the most camera shy can be assured I won’t ask you for fake smiles etc..often the best images are when you are not looking at the camera and even baby in daddies arms and hands can be very powerful if dad doesn’t want to be photographed. Older Brothers and Sisters are welcome to have their photographs taken with their new baby but as we all know young children get bored very easily, and babies are not comfortable being held by young children we get round this by having a few specific shots that have been tried and tested to get the best images of baby and their brothers and sisters. I do try and get these shots done first and ask that someone can come an take the children away after we have finished these shots. If for some reason baby isn’t settling we can bring them back and get the shots at the end of the session.

When will I see my images? During your session I will show you a few of your pictures as we take them Once we have finished the session my job has just begun. I will take 2-3hrs to go through all the images we take and find 20 -30 of the very best..these I will edit and colour correct babies skin and remove spots, rashes and scratches etc…birthmarks , mongolian blue spot and moles will not be retouched unless specifically requested. I will always try and edit 1 image for you to have a sneak peek as soon as I can after the session and upload to my FB page

When your images are ready I will arrange a suitable time for you to return and view your images on a large screen..you can then choose which package or products you would like to display them. Orders are placed at this time and usually take 10 -14 days to produce…orders cannot then be cancelled once production has begun. Payment is required at the time or ordering… Images are kept on file for 6mths.

Can I pay in instalments?

If you wish to pay in 2 monthly instalments for your packages you may do so by paying 50% at the time of ordering followed by 50% 4 weeks later orders will then be ready 2 weeks after final payment.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me either by email: info@littlecreases.com or by phone 07515382865

Unfortunately due to the nature of newborn sessions 48hrs minimum notice is required to re-arrange any confirmed bookings as time is spent preparing for your shoot and I cannot fill these sessions without prior notice.

There is a no filming or photography policy within the clinic so please can you not take photographs with you mobiles/ipads etc.

What do I bring with me?

Milk, milk and more milk! baby will need lots of top ups throughout the session so as long as we have milk we will be fine, if you are breastfeeding and you can express a little beforehand to give you a little break thats a good idea..if not we have plenty of time for you to top baby up.

Dummy or pacifier if you use one…this can be a godsend to just get them off into that dreamy sleep.

Food for yourselves! Please bring some lunch with you and snacks..I can provide tea and coffee. Dad can bring his laptop etc for entertainment or he can simply have a snooze!

Clothing My style of shooting newborns is with little clothing so outfits are not usually necessary …I have a vast range of wraps shawls and little knitted and crocheted rompers to make your images timeless and last for a very long time to come.

Parents I always advise on plain and pastel colours and maybe a black top each also.

Siblings plain pastel colours work really well for sibling shots, I’m always happy to photograph parent shots and sibling shots skin to skin if thats something you feel you would like. I have plenty of wraps to cover you with and keep shoulders bare.

All babies are different and the majority settle really well and sleep through most of the session. I adore babies and have years of experienced and endless patience so you have no need to worry or stress at all. I am trained in Newborn Photography and Safe Baby Handling and I am a member of BANPAS (Baby & Newborn Photographers Association) as well as being a Qualified photographer with the Guild of Photographers and the SWPP. I would never put your precious baby at risk just to get an image.

Choosing the right Newborn/Baby Photographer for you – Baby photographer Leicester

Little Creases_Leicester Newborn Photographer816-2

You’ve done the pregnancy test…you’ve had your first scan …yay!!!! your expecting a baby…congratulations!!! your life is now on a roller coaster ride with lots of milestones for you to celebrate along the way. You know you want to capture your beautiful newborn baby when he/she arrives and maybe have some family photos too, but how do you choose the right photographer? There are so many of us! Try not to leave it until baby is here…many newborn photographers are booked months in advance so try and think about it as early on in your pregnancy as possible.  My advice to anyone looking for a professional photographer is to firstly look at the images on their website and ask yourself “Are these the type of photographs you want of your baby?”  ” can you see them on the wall in your home?” If the answer is yes great! Now its a good idea to check they are a professional photographer, after all…it is professional photographs you want right?… a professional photographer will have insurance, will be trained in photography, maybe hold a qualification, they will be a member of a professional photographers association and they will have baby safety standards in place. Remember you will be passing your brand new daughter or son over to this person, they will be responsible for his/her safety…babies NEVER balance on boxes, or sit with hands under chins unsupported for the sake of a photograph…A professional photographer will take 2 or 3 images of a scene with baby supported by mum or dad the whole time and then they will put these images together in post production, even tiny babies can startle and fall of chairs, boxes etc, babies safety has to be THE most important question for you to raise when looking for a photographer to capture you newborn.

A professional photographer will be more than happy to discuss any of the above with you and you can then rest assured you will have beautiful photographs of your precious newborn baby to cherish forever, you only get one chance at capturing these moments….they grow up way too fast!!
